Benny’s on the Beach is a staple in Palm Beach County, but the Toni Girls had actually never tried this well-known Lake Worth restaurant. For Toni N’s birthday, Toni J planned a surprise in-town getaway to Benny’s on the Beach so that we could finally see if the buzz about Benny’s was merely hype.
Cutting straight to the chase: Benny’s is a hit!
The Ambiance
Benny’s on the Beach is a true oceanfront restaurant, situated on the Lake Worth Pier right on the Atlantic Ocean. Taste Buddies, if you have not tried this eatery, then you can add this to your foodie to do list.
The view is nothing short of divine. The Toni Girls went right at sunset, and were able to enjoy the cool night scenery. The crashing waves, the music in the background, and the food definitely create a fabulous vibe.
You can eat outside right next to the Atlantic, or you can eat on the upstairs screened patio. We ate on the patio, which was perfect because the screens shielded us from some of the ocean’s breeze. But, we were still able to enjoy the gorgeous view.
The Presentation
Benny’s on the Beach features the work of renowned Chef Jeremy Hanlon. Each dish is a work of art. You can definitely get your Instagram-worthy food pics at Benny’s.
The Service
The staff at Benny’s were the perfect combination of fast and friendly. Our server, Veronica, was very helpful in helping Toni N navigate the menu in light of her shellfish allergy.
We also liked to see the servers wearing masks. We didn’t see gloves but we would say that Benny’s is clean and safe for those who are concerned about hygiene and COVID-19. Because of the open air seating, Benny’s passes our safety test for dining out during COVID.
The Taste
We were not disappointed by the food at Benny’s.
Toni J ordered the shrimp and grits. She devoured the seafood! You can’t go wrong with creamy grits and perfectly seasoned shrimp.
Mama Toni ordered the “Benny’s Burger” and fries. She noted that the bacon sauce did something magical to the burger. She had no complaints!
The birthday girl, Toni N, also ordered a Benny’s Burger. She paired her burger with the cilantro-lime rice. (She would have preferred fries but she ordered the rice to avoid possible cross-contamination with any shellfish that is also fried.) The cilantro rice was fantastic, with just the right kick of flavor. Toni N didn’t miss the fries after she tasted that delicious rice! The pretzel bun on the Benny’s Burger is unequivocal proof that God is still good!
Nana Toni had the fish and chips, which is North Atlantic Pollock. She enjoyed her fish but did remark that the fish was a bit greasy for her liking.
The Bottom Line: Benny’s on the Beach is a Must-Try
Taste Buddies, the coronavirus has robbed the Toni Girls (and many others) of the opportunity to travel and enjoy our favorite destinations. But Palm Beach folks can enjoy their own local getaway at Benny’s on the Beach in Lake Worth. Taste Buddies, you should definitely give Benny’s a try.
Benny’s is 100% Toni Taste Buds approved. We’re looking forward to trying Benny’s during the brunch hour!
